Ode To a Metal Bird

Ode To a Metal Bird

Evildan, Sion 20.05.2003

O Metal bird, you are so loud
racing fast through mist and cloud
Screaming down into the valley`s deep
you rob me of my precious sleep

Emitting knowledge from your beak
and spilling fumes of hellish reek
Y`are thirsty for Arabia`s gold
that, processed, refined, is eas`ly sold
Quaff, o quaff now, gallon-wise
giving power to your hastly rise

Rising high on acrid flame
you bear no mortal`s name
Numbers, letters, suit you well
copied from the books of hell
Your droppings find their way alone
and leave of buildings not a single bone

Your brain walks proudly on two feet
and salutes to ev`ryone he meet
Brainless, you do stand and wait
Junkyard`s eventually your fate

And while your brain sleeps by a cozy fire
do you dream of a nest of wire
Of flying freely amongst your kin
with a mate, to warm your metal skin

But these things are not for thee
O Metal Bird, O, can’t you see?
Orders, functions and duty thereof
that`s all you`ll ever be thinking of

Ah, I wish to accelerate with thee
and experience, first-hand, ol` Newton`s “g”
But I in coat depicting ranks?
futile would’ve been my mother`s spanks
Never will that be the case
not me as Weltkrieg`s Flying Ace
Now, Metal Bird, farewell, farewell
see you in the Bessemer bowls of hell
